Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls (Very Easy)

Today’s recipe is Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls. A very easy recipe that you can make in the comfort of your own home.

You start by making the sweet and sour sauce which really couldn’t be any easier. You simply add all the ingredients for the sauce in the pan and let it cook for about 3 minutes. As simple as that!

For the chicken balls you make a simple marinade and let the cubes stand while you make the batter. For the batter you want a “gloopy” texture. Add the chicken to the batter, coat properly and deep fry the pieces until golden brown.

Ingredients for sweet and sour sauce:

100 grams ketchup
100 grams sugar
75 ml white vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp corn flour
175 ml water

Ingredients for the chicken balls:

1 kg chicken breasts (cubed)
2 tbsp rice wine
1 tsp sesame seed oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
3 tbsp oil
350 grams self-raising flour

  2. Hello! This sounds delicious. I have a couple of questions:
I do not have rice wine. Would balsamic vinegar work?
Can I use all-purpose flour with some baking powder instead of self-rising flour?
    Thanks!

      Hi,

Dry white wine or pale dry sherry would be a better replacement for the rice wine.

You can definitely use all-purpose flower with baking powder. The ratio is 1.5 tsp per one cup of flower, whisked well.

I might have to try that recipe, but I don’t know if I have all of that stuff.
